Angel Reese pulled down 90 rebounds across the WNBA Finals, the most any player has recorded in the championship series, and Atlanta still walked away without the trophy. The Dream lost Game 7 to Golden State 68-63 on Saturday night, ending the franchise's fourth Finals appearance without a title.

Reese arrived in Atlanta this past offseason through a trade from Chicago. She spent her first two WNBA seasons with the Sky and never made the postseason. Before turning pro, she won a college championship at LSU in 2023, then helped USA Basketball take its fifth consecutive women's FIBA World Cup title in September.

Atlanta carried a six-point lead into halftime Saturday. Through the first six games of the series, no team leading at the break had lost. The Dream had also gone 16-0 this season in games where Reese made a 3-pointer. She hit one early in the second quarter, then scored three points over the final 29 minutes.

Gabby Williams scored 28 of her 30 points in the second half and earned MVP honors as Golden State claimed its first championship. Reese finished with eight points, 12 rebounds and two blocks.

Reese had been Atlanta's engine in the earlier rounds of the series. In the three Finals games the Dream won, she averaged 22 points, 14 rebounds and four assists. In the losses, those numbers fell to 9.3 points, 12 rebounds and 2.3 assists, and she shot 12 for 38 from the field.

"I'm really proud of the year I had," Reese said. She added that reaching the Finals with the group "says a lot" and that she would do it again. Her last word on the season was a pledge: "We'll be back."

The league's next scheduled milestone is the start of player movement and roster transactions for the 2027 season, following Saturday's series conclusion.
