Hank DuPre and Sam Rambo have opened Glover Park Kitchen on Atlanta Street in Marietta. The restaurant sits just off historic Marietta Square and across from Glover Park Brewery. The location places the new dining room in the center of the town's main gathering area.
The establishment began with a preview for local food writer Brian Benefield several weeks ago. Benefield visited on a cool evening when the windows were open. The space features lush plants, cozy furniture, and wicker barstools. The design aims to create a relaxing environment where guests can stay for long periods.
Benefield dined at the bar with a server named Eric. Eric provided service that included witty banter. The writer noted that Eric is a seasoned bartender capable of making complex drinks with ease. The owners, DuPre and Rambo, are focused on demonstrating Southern hospitality through their staff and atmosphere.
Executive Chef Lance Hagan leads the kitchen. Hagan applies a seasonal approach to traditional regional cooking. The menu includes Charleston shrimp and grits, Springer Mountain fried chicken, and the Hagan Pot Roast. The pot roast features beer-braised short rib. The menu also lists fried green tomatoes topped with goat cheese and sorghum balsamic.
The appetizers are designed for sharing. Benefield tried deviled eggs topped with smoked salmon and country ham. The group also sampled shrimp fritters served with remoulade sauce. These dishes are intended to be placed in the center of the table for communal eating.
The restaurant includes a covered, climate-controlled veranda and an outdoor lawn. These areas provide additional seating for guests who want to linger. The bar serves handcrafted cocktails and wine. It also offers rotating beers from the Glover Park Brewery located across the street.
The menu balances traditional Southern items with modern preparation. For example, the fried green tomatoes add a contemporary polish to a classic dish. The shrimp and grits are a familiar regional custom that the chef has adapted. The overall goal is to serve food that feels familiar without being strictly traditional.
The location serves longtime locals, new visitors to the Square, and families who make Saturday outings a tradition. The restaurant fits into the existing culture of gathering in downtown Marietta. People from different backgrounds use the space to share meals and conversations.
Glover Park Kitchen is now available to the public. More information can be found at gloverparkkitchen.com. The restaurant continues to operate near the brewery and the historic square. It offers a place for residents to eat and socialize in the downtown area.
