David Bowie's 1978 Isolar II World Tour will return to the stage in a new immersive concert experience called Stage. The production is set to premiere on February 14, 2027, at Uber Arena in Berlin. It will debut during the 77th Berlin International Film Festival. The project was developed in collaboration with the David Bowie Estate.
Filmmaker Brett Morgen discovered the archival material while working on his 2022 documentary, Moonage Daydream. The footage captures the singer during a defining period of his career. It features music associated with his influential Berlin era. The material had not been seen publicly before this project.
The presentation will use modern audiovisual technology to restore and display the footage. It will not be a traditional concert film. Instead, the production will combine large screens, transparent LED displays, surround sound, and theatrical lighting. This setup creates an immersive performance environment for the audience.
The project aims to bring viewers closer to Bowie's original live performances. It will not use a hologram or artificial intelligence to recreate the singer. The focus remains on the restored archival material and the specific technology used to present it.
Following its Berlin debut, the experience is expected to travel internationally. The tour will offer longtime fans and new listeners another opportunity to experience Bowie's musical legacy. The premiere marks the first public showing of this specific combination of restored footage and immersive technology.
