Walt Weiss has been named a finalist for the National League Manager of the Year Award, according to an announcement from MLB Network on Monday. He joins Don Mattingly of the Philadelphia Phillies and Pat Murphy of the Milwaukee Brewers in the selection. Murphy is competing for a third consecutive award in this category.

The Braves promoted Weiss to the manager position after Brian Snitker retired following the 2025 season. That campaign saw the team finish with 76 wins and miss the postseason for the first time since 2017. Weiss took over for the 2026 season and guided the club to 94 victories. The team secured its first National League East title since 2023 under his leadership.

Atlanta finished the regular season with the No. 3 seed in the postseason. The Braves played the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Wild Card Series at Truist Park. Atlanta won two of the three games in that series before facing the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers defeated the Braves in a five-game National League Division Series.

The winner of the National League Manager of the Year Award will be announced on November 10. Chris Sale, a pitcher for the Braves, is also a finalist for the National League Cy Young Award. The Cy Young winner will be announced on November 11. Sale is seeking his second such honor.

The Baseball Writers' Association of America announced the full list of finalists for its annual awards on Monday. Other National League finalists include Pete Crow-Armstrong, Shohei Ohtani, and Brice Turang for MVP. Jacob Misiorowski and Cristopher Sanchez are also competing with Sale for the Cy Young. Carson Benge, Sal Stewart, and JJ Wetherholt are the Rookie of the Year finalists.

In the American League, the Manager of the Year finalists are Kevin Cash of the Rays, Chad Tracy of the Red Sox, and Will Venable of the White Sox. Yordan Alvarez, Junior Caminero, and Bobby Witt Jr. are the MVP contenders. Dylan Cease, Parker Messick, and Cam Schlittler are up for the Cy Young. Bryan Baker, Cade Smith, and Louis Varland are the Reliever of the Year finalists.
