Lowndes High School defeated Valdosta 32-31 on Tuesday in a Winnersville Classic matchup between two undefeated teams. The win was built on the ground, with Lowndes recording 356 rushing yards and four touchdowns on just 46 carries.

The Lowndes offensive line, consisting of Abram Eisenhower, Noah Bair, Coltyn Smith, Owen Lofton, Kam Brown, and Brody Powell, earned the AJC Varsity Offensive Line of the Week honor. Blocking back Gavin Gray was also named to the unit. The group controlled the pace of the game by opening up running lanes for the backfield.

Lowndes head coach Adam Carter stated that the team knew they were running the ball on the opponent. He described the challenge for the players as substantial given the physical nature of the contest. The offensive line coaches for the team are Patrick Tresey and Jared Allen.

Quarterback Jayce Johnson led the rushing attack with 146 yards, while running back Mason Woods added 102 yards. Johnson scored the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter on a one-yard carry from the goal line. The team attempted only three passes during the entire game.

The selection comes as part of a statewide recognition of high school football lines. Other named units include the lines from East Cobb, South Cobb, and North Cobb. The award acknowledges the blocking performance that paved the way for the total rushing yards recorded in the game.

Lowndes remains unbeaten with an 8-0 record following the victory over Valdosta. The team’s ground game was the deciding factor in the close final score. The offensive line’s performance was the central element of the coaching staff’s game plan for the contest.

The AJC Varsity award is given by Georgia High School Football Daily. The recognition includes players from various regions across the state who contributed to their teams' rushing success. Lowndes is one of several teams with lines highlighted for their blocking efficiency in recent games.
