Kennesaw, GA, Nov. 1: West Cobb Regional Library has scheduled a series of November programs that center on honoring military service and preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday. The library at 1750 Dennis Kemp Lane will host a special presentation on Veterans Day, followed by a drop-in crafting session for the fall holiday.

The first major event is a Veterans Day program scheduled for Monday, November 9, at 11 AM. The session, titled "What is Veteran's Day?", is sponsored by the Andrew Houser chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Retired Army Colonel Carey Cole will lead the presentation, which is specifically directed at homeschool families in the community. Colonel Cole will discuss the meaning of the national holiday, the nature of military service, and the lessons learned through service. He describes the military as an honorable profession and aims to provide attendees with a deeper perspective on appreciating veterans.

Following the lecture and a question and answer period, participants will engage in a craft activity. Attendees will create patriotic bracelets using red, white, and blue beads. The library notes that the craft celebrates America's 250th anniversary and serves as a wearable sign of appreciation for those who have served in the armed forces. The actual federal holiday for Veterans Day falls on Wednesday, November 11, two days after the library event.

The next community gathering is a Thanksgiving Break Craft session scheduled for Monday, November 23, at 10:30 AM. This event is open to the general public and requires no prior registration. The library will provide all necessary nature-inspired materials for creating holiday ornaments or gifts. Caregivers are required to be present for infants and preschoolers to assist with the creative process.

West Cobb Regional Library will observe the Veterans Day holiday on Wednesday, November 11, by remaining closed to the public. The library will also close early on Wednesday, November 25, at 5 PM. It will then remain closed through Saturday, November 28, for the Thanksgiving break. The building will reopen at 10 AM on Sunday, November 29.

Several other regular programs are also on the November calendar. My First Book Group! will meet on Saturday, November 7, at 2:30 PM. A Dungeons and Dragons session is set for Saturday, November 14, at 2:30 PM. The Tea & Talk group, featuring a selection of fall favorites, will convene on Thursday, November 19, at 2:00 PM. The West Cobb Fourth Monday Book Discussion will take place on Monday, November 30, at 6:30 PM, with the group discussing "Heartwood" by Amity Gaige.

Residents can contact West Cobb Regional Library for questions regarding these events. The library is located at 1750 Dennis Kemp Lane in Kennesaw, Georgia 30152. The phone number for inquiries is 770-499-4485. The full November schedule is available through the Cobb County Public Library System's newsletter and library channels.
