Silverton Mortgage will eliminate 73 positions at its Atlanta headquarters as it integrates into Taylor Morrison.

The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the state of Georgia, detailing the scale and timing of the reduction. The separations start Dec. 31, 2026, and continue through May 2027. This notice is required under federal law for mass layoffs.

Silverton is a subsidiary of Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway. In July, Berkshire Hathaway completed its purchase of Taylor Morrison for approximately $8.5 billion, including assumed debt. The consolidation will move Silverton’s operations into the homebuilder’s existing infrastructure.

Edna Bank, Silverton Mortgage’s chief executive, addressed the impact on staff in a letter to employees. She stated that the move allows the company to offer different resource packages and affected employees to maintain their careers. Bank also noted that the integration will create opportunities for residential mortgage professionals to serve a wider client base.

The decision comes amid a challenging market environment. Bank wrote that the housing market has faced significant economic headwinds in recent months. Data from the Atlanta Board of Trade shows that new mortgage originations dropped 10.7 percent in Georgia from September 2024 to September 2025. This decline mirrors a broader trend of higher interest rates and reduced affordability.

Bank acknowledged that the company will likely close its Colony Square office location. She described the building as a home for the firm since 1998. In that letter, she explained that the acquisition by Vanderbilt and subsequent merger with Taylor Morrison led to the discovery of duplicate roles.

The reduction in force includes both new and existing staff members. Bank emphasized that the goal is to streamline operations while preserving essential services. The company will continue to operate under the Taylor Morrison umbrella, utilizing its national resources to support local lending activities.
