Tennessee state Sen. Brent Taylor acknowledged on Tuesday that he sent unsolicited nude photos to multiple women. The admission comes one week before Election Day, as Taylor campaigns for both reelection to the state Senate and a seat in the U.S. House for Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District.

The Nashville Scene reported that several sources told the publication they had received or seen the photos. One recipient said she got a photo from Taylor in 2021. Taylor was 53 years old at the time. He described the episodes as youthful indiscretions that belong to his past.

Taylor stated that his wife knows about the situation and that the couple has resolved it. He asked voters to do the same. In a written statement, he said he is willing to acknowledge his past indiscretion. He noted that his wife now has to relive the issue, which they worked through years ago.

Taylor argued that voters in the 9th District are focused on grocery and gas prices rather than his personal history. He positioned his run for Congress as a way to stop Democratic state Rep. Justin Pearson. Taylor called Pearson a Democrat Socialist and suggested he would be a public embarrassment in office. He urged voters to choose competence over chaos.

Taylor has served in the state Senate since 2023. He previously held government office starting in 1995. He is running against Pearson, independent Dennis Clark, and independent Michelle Head in the 9th District race. Pearson also responded to the reports on Tuesday.

Pearson said men of faith and public office should not send unsolicited nudes. He noted that Taylor has been married for 30 years and professes Christian values. Pearson called Taylor’s characterization of the behavior as youthful a mischaracterization of predatory actions. He said Tennessee needs leaders who respect women.

The midterm election is scheduled for November 3. Taylor’s statement emphasized the tight timeline with seven days remaining. He maintained that the contrast between the candidates is stark for voters deciding who will represent them in Congress.
