Mountain View Regional Library will host a puppet show titled Puppetpalooza on Monday, Nov. 17, at 10:30 a.m. The program is designed for children from infancy through preschool age. The performance uses comedy and adventure to bring classic and modern stories to life.

The library, located at 3320 Sandy Plains Road in Marietta, serves as a branch of the Cobb County Public Library System. The puppet show offers families a pre-Thanksgiving activity before the holiday break.

For families with older, school-age children, the library offers a Passport to Puppetry. This program grants free passes to the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta. The passport allows up to four people to enter three specific exhibitions currently on display at the center.

The exhibitions covered by the free pass are the Jim Henson Collection, the Global Collection, and Frame by Frame: The Art of Stop-Motion Animation. The Center is open to the public, but special events and workshops are not included in the passport benefits. Special events like Spookhouse Annie and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer cost $22.00 per person.

To use the passport, visitors must check it out from Mountain View Regional Library or any other Cobb County Public Library System branch. Patrons must then call the ticket office at 404-873-3391 to reserve a specific time to visit the exhibitions. The phone reservation is free, but the ticket agent will confirm that the patron has the physical passport. Visitors must present the passport at the box office upon arrival at the Center for Puppetry Arts.

Mountain View Regional Library will hold several other events in November. Dungeons and Dragons and Beyond is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 5:00 p.m. The Page Turners Book Group will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 10:30 a.m. to discuss Deacon King Kong by James McBride. A Mountain View Mahjong Meetup is set for Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 5:30 p.m. An American Red Cross Blood Drive will take place on Monday, Nov. 23, at 11:00 a.m.

The library will close on Wednesday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day. It will close early at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25. The branch will remain closed from Thursday, Nov. 26, through Friday, Nov. 27. It will reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28. Inquiries can be directed to the library at 770-509-2725.
