Dakota Davis, a 25-year-old corporal with the Prattville Police Department in Alabama, died in a motorcycle crash. His family describes the incident as a freak accident in which no one was at fault.
Davis was married to Chloe Greiner-Davis for only two and a half weeks before the wreck. Greiner-Davis said she is still waiting for him to walk through the door. She noted that motorcycles were a lifelong passion for Davis, one he had held since childhood. Although she initially felt upset about his new hobby, she accepted that riding was his calling. She expressed concern that while he could be a careful rider, other drivers on the road often are not.
His father, Paul Davis, described his son as a family man who found purpose in protecting the public. Paul Davis characterized Dakota as outgoing but also a man of few words who meant what he said. The father recalled that his son loved sports and was deeply connected to his family.
Greiner-Davis is currently managing mortgage payments and moving expenses while working toward her master’s degree in elementary education. The community has responded to the loss by raising thousands of dollars in support for the couple.
The family is preparing to hold a funeral on Halloween, which was Davis’s favorite holiday. Paul Davis shared a message for his son through tears, stating that he is loved and he is missed. Greiner-Davis offered a simple message to her husband, telling him that she loves him so much.
