FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. received the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award from the NFL on Wednesday, the first time he has taken the honor. The recognition follows Atlanta's 29-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Penix completed 25 of 34 passes for 213 yards against San Francisco. He threw three touchdown passes and did not throw an interception.
Falcons coach Kevin Stefanski spoke about Penix's performance after the game. "I thought Mike was really good throughout the day," Stefanski said. "That's a very, very good defense. I mean, they're excellent, and they don't give up big plays. We took our shots when we had them and when we didn't, I thought Mike really saw it really well."
Penix has started three games this season. He has claimed five weekly NFL honors in his career, including the NFC Defensive Player of the Week award he received after a win over the Packers on Nov. 5, 2025. The Offensive Player of the Week award marks his first such recognition.
