President Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on Thursday. The event is scheduled to take place at the Rock Hill Sports and Event Center.
Doors at the venue open at 9 a.m. Eastern Time. Trump is expected to begin his remarks at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The stop serves as the latest leg of his midterm campaign tour.
The visit aims to boost support for Senator Darline Graham (R-S.C.). She is running against Democrat Annie Andrews for a U.S. Senate seat. Trump has already traveled to the region earlier this month.
On October 20, he visited Greenville, North Carolina. On October 21, he stopped in Clemson, South Carolina. These appearances are part of a national effort to rally his base ahead of the elections.
Tim Phillips, a VIP attendee, said he is glad the president is returning. He noted that this is the second time Trump has traveled to South Carolina for this specific race. Phillips, a South Carolina native who campaigns for Republicans nationwide, called the rallies electric.
Phillips described the atmosphere as a show where supporters feel like they are seeing old friends. He admitted that the president’s unpredictable style adds to the fun. However, he also found the repeated visits sobering given the polling data.
The Republican National Committee stated that the party relies on high voter turnout to maintain control of Congress. Most current polls show Republicans have only a small chance of keeping the Senate. South Carolina has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1998.
