Cobb County residents can see a new musical project that blends American songwriting with Afro-Cuban rhythm, flamenco, and jazz. Frank Maza and Javier Limón will present their album, Back Then, at Eddie's Attic in Decatur on Thursday, Oct. 29.

Maza, a singer, songwriter, and producer, produced the album alongside Limón. Limón is a Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning producer, composer, and guitarist. The recording features collaborations with Chucho Valdés, Daymé Arocena, and Iván Melón Lewis. The music traces characters, memories, and stories for the listener.

An 18-minute short film accompanies the album. The film provides visual context for the musical narrative. Viewers can watch the short film on YouTube. The project connects the written word of American songwriting with the rhythmic traditions of Afro-Cuban music and the structures of jazz and flamenco.

The show takes place at 7:00 p.m. at Eddie's Attic, located at 515 N. McDonough St. in Decatur. The venue is in the zip code 30030 area. Tickets are available for purchase online. Maza maintains a website at frankmaza.com and an Instagram account at frankmazamusic for further details.

The artists recently discussed the project on the Atlanta show ATL Live. Hosts Ava Braatz and Savannah Louie spoke with Maza and Limón about the creative process. The conversation covered the integration of different musical genres and the personal stories behind the songs. The album represents a collaboration between the two producers and their featured guests.

The performance offers a live look at the material released on the album. The duo will perform the tracks that make up the Back Then project. The event is scheduled for the evening of Oct. 29. The show follows the recent public release and promotion of the short film and audio recordings.
