Cleveland Grover Meredith Jr., 58, was arrested on Monday in connection with new online threats, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia. The Canton man, who lives in Sautee Nacoochee, White County, was taken into U.S. Marshals Service custody. His detention hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
Meredith faces one count of interstate threats. The charge stems from a Facebook post allegedly made on April 23, 2026. In that post, he wrote, “All J6 Federal JUDGES will be EXECUTED!” Digital records indicate he accessed the internet from Canton that day, per the criminal complaint affidavit.
A supplemental motion for detention cites additional alleged threats tied to the midterm elections. On Oct. 6, Meredith posted, “Make damn sure that you’re on the right team going into the midterms..firing squads will commence on Wednesday, 11/04/26.” On Oct. 14, he allegedly wrote, “Mark this post, my sheeple: The midterms will be an absolute MASSACRE.”
Meredith was previously charged in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riots. He pleaded guilty in September 2021 to interstate threats. At the time, he admitted to driving into Washington, D.C., armed with a pistol, a rifle, approximately 2,500 rounds of ammunition, and 10 large-capacity feeding devices. He also texted a Georgia relative that he would “put a bullet” in the head of then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
President Donald Trump granted clemency to Meredith in 2025. He was one of nearly 1,600 individuals charged in connection with the riots who received a pardon on the president’s first day back in office.
