SLR Food Distribution Inc announced a voluntary recall of Wise Wife Brand Ground Cinnamon on Thursday. The company identified elevated levels of lead in the product, which is available in fourteen states. No illnesses have been reported so far.
The recall covers 110-gram clear plastic containers with black screw-top caps. Each jar displays a best-before date of April 25, 2027, and carries the UPC 0688474302754 on the back label. The affected items were sold in retail and grocery stores from September 8, 2025, through June 28, 2026.
The product was distributed in Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. The recall notice states that lead exposure can affect nearly every bodily system. Effects vary based on dosage, duration, and the age and weight of the individual. Short-term exposure to low levels may not produce immediate symptoms.
Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled cinnamon. The company recommends returning the product to the place of purchase for a full refund or throwing it away. SLR Food Distribution made the announcement in a recall alert issued by the FDA.
The recall was announced ahead of the holiday season. The FDA included the product in its current list of voluntary recalls. The company did not specify a deadline for completing the removal of stock from shelves.
