A 20-year-old Chipotle employee was arrested in South Miami on Thursday after a dispute over his work schedule escalated into a physical confrontation with his supervisor.
Police reports identify the suspect as Levar Kareem Walker Jr. The incident occurred at the Chipotle Mexican Grill on S. Dixie Highway. Walker grew angry when his manager instructed him to clock out for the day.
Investigators say Walker began tossing food and kitchen supplies onto the floor. He then picked up a knife and hurled it toward his manager. The weapon missed its target but struck the area near the supervisor.
Walker followed up by throwing a glass bottle that hit a kitchen grill, creating a dent. A second bottle struck the manager in the left shoulder. A witness stated she saw the knife and bottle thrown and heard Walker threaten to kill the supervisor. Another employee reported hearing Walker say he intended to beat up his manager.
The arrest report lists three damaged glass bottles, each valued at $3.45, and a grill with approximately $150 in repairs needed. Walker faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery, criminal mischief, and assault.
A judge found probable cause in bond court on Friday. Walker was released on a $6,400 bond and ordered to Level 3 house arrest. He must also avoid contact with the victim and the specific restaurant location.
