Republican challenger Joe Hathaway stated on Thursday that voter attention in New Jersey's 11th Congressional District has risen substantially since the spring special election. Speaking after casting his ballot at the township hall in Denville, he argued that this heightened awareness is the primary factor positioning him for a potential upset on Tuesday.

Hathaway maintained that incumbent Representative Analilia Mejia holds views that are too far left for the district, which spans parts of Essex, Passaic, and Morris counties. He reiterated a campaign message that he first launched in April, describing Mejia's stance as radical for the area's political makeup.

The previous contest, held on April 16, was a Thursday special election where Democrats leveraged a registration advantage of more than 65,000 to secure a victory by 20 points. Hathaway contended that those initial results no longer dictate the current dynamic. He pointed to strong early voting numbers as evidence that a larger contingent of moderate voters is participating in this cycle.

While available data indicates that Democrats are currently leading in early vote totals, Hathaway suggested that some Democratic voters are reassessing their support for Mejia. He observed that these voters are expressing dissatisfaction with what he termed her radicalism. After voting with his family, the candidate described the district as prepared for a new generation of Republican leadership.
