Polling locations in Cobb County and the wider metro Atlanta area will see mild, mostly dry conditions on Tuesday, November 2. The FOX 5 Storm Team forecasts that voters casting ballots during business hours will encounter pleasant weather, with no disruptive rainfall expected for those standing in line.
Temperatures will rise steadily throughout the day. At 7 a.m., readings will start near 59 degrees. By noon, the mercury will climb to 68 degrees. The day will peak at 72 degrees between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. under mostly cloudy skies with occasional sunshine. Evening temperatures will hold steady at 70 degrees from 6 p.m. through 8 p.m.
The current mild spell follows a dry Sunday. Most of the Atlanta area received trace amounts to under a tenth of an inch of rain on that day. A few isolated locations measured heavier downpours in the afternoon. Upson County recorded just over a quarter of an inch, while areas near LaGrange picked up slightly more than half an inch.
A stronger storm system is projected to arrive late Wednesday into Thursday. That incoming disturbance is expected to drop between 1 and 2 inches of rain. Forecasters are still evaluating the potential storm threat associated with that system. Temperatures across North Georgia will run above the seasonal early November average of 69 degrees for most of the week.
Drier conditions and calmer weather are forecast to return across the region by next weekend once the midweek storm front departs.
