Anthropic submitted a regulatory filing on Monday to list its stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market. The document outlines a plan for an initial public offering that could raise as much as $100 billion US. If the offer succeeds, the San Francisco company would surpass the record set by SpaceX in June, which raised $86 billion US.

The filing marks the first time the maker of the Claude chatbot will sell shares to the public. The company expects to begin trading next month under the ticker symbol ANT. This move places Anthropic ahead of rival OpenAI in a race to go public, with both companies expected to launch major stock offerings in the near future.

The 335-page document reveals that the company is expanding rapidly but remains unprofitable. Anthropic reported a net loss of $80.7 billion US for the first six months of 2026. That figure is substantially higher than the $13 billion US loss recorded in the same period a year earlier.

Private investors valued the firm at $965 billion US earlier this year. Reports indicate the public offering could push that valuation to $1.5 trillion or possibly $2 trillion, although the final number has not been established. A valuation of $1.5 trillion would place Anthropic among the most valuable public companies in the world, on par with Tesla.

CEO Dario Amodei and his sister, co-founder Daniela Amodei, would see their personal wealth increase by billions of dollars if the offer proceeds at lower estimates. The company has stated that the funds raised will be used to accelerate its expansion. The specific offering price and final valuation remain undetermined.

The filing arrives weeks after Dario Amodei published an essay arguing for a slower pace in developing advanced AI models. In that piece, he warned that such technology could pose an existential threat to humanity. The company’s financial disclosures show revenue growth but continue to reflect the high costs associated with its operations.

Anthropic is scheduled to begin trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market next month. The offering aims to position the five-year-old startup as a major player in the public equity market. The final details of the share price and total amount raised are pending regulatory review.
