Lowndes and Appling County have both won against unbeaten teams but will be seeded lower in the playoffs. Lowndes and Appling County are among 25 teams that Maxwell is projecting to get lower seeds than teams they have beaten with no other indirect results to contradict those outcomes. Others include North Oconee (projected No. 3 seed) ahead of Jefferson (No. 7) in Class 5A and Cairo (No. 5) ahead of Dougherty (No. 6) in Class 4A. Jefferson beat North Oconee last week. Dougherty beat Cairo earlier last month. Those were region games in regions that Jefferson and Dougherty won. Lowndes and Appling County just won marquee games between 8-0 teams, but both will be seeded in the playoffs below the teams they just defeated, according to the GHSA’s Post Season Rankings standings and Maxwell Ratings projections.

The Post Season Rankings standings and Maxwell Ratings projections show that Lowndes and Appling County will be seeded lower in the playoffs despite their recent wins against unbeaten teams. Other teams that are projected to get lower seeds than teams they have beaten include North Oconee, Jefferson, Cairo, and Dougherty. The region games that Jefferson and Dougherty won were decisive in their seeding. Lowndes and Appling County's wins against unbeaten teams will not be enough to secure higher seeds in the playoffs.

Class 7A standings show that Valdosta, Newton, Lowndes, and Carrollton will maintain their top four seeds. Class 6A standings show that Thomas County Central, Lee County, Jackson County, and Coffee will maintain their top four seeds. Class 5A standings show that Lowndes and Appling County will be seeded lower than Valdosta and other unbeaten teams. Class 3A standings show that Toombs County, Hart County, and Appling County will maintain their top three seeds.

Class 2A standings show that Thomasville and Heard County will maintain their top two seeds. Class A standings show that Lincoln County and Randolph-Clay will maintain their top two seeds. Lowndes and Appling County have both won against unbeaten teams but will be seeded lower in the playoffs, according to the Post Season Rankings standings and Maxwell Ratings projections.
