Free Palestine Tour Begins with Sold-Out Dublin Concert

Macklemore launched his Free Palestine Tour with a sold-out concert in Dublin. The event marked the first of three shows, with concerts also scheduled in Paris and London. The sold-out concert served as a benefit for organizations supporting Palestine and the Palestinian movement. The lineup included Hozier, Kneecap, and the backing band from Ed Sheeran’s tour. The concert was held at Dublin’s 3Arena, and special guests included Liam Cunningham, Nadia Greenspan, and Samir Eskanda.

Macklemore was dropped from Sheeran’s tour after sharing his pro-Palestine message during his opening set. The venues on the U.S. Loop Tour threatened to pull out if Macklemore was on the bill. Sheeran addressed the controversy onstage, saying he was deeply worried about the idea that venues pre-approve content for performance. He added that this happens in so many places that he performs around the world, but it should never happen in the free world. In announcing his Free Palestine Tour, Macklemore wrote on Instagram that being apolitical during a genocide doesn’t work anymore.
