Cobb County voters maintained the existing partisan division in the state's congressional delegation on Tuesday evening. The 14 seats in Georgia's U.S. House remain split evenly between the two major parties. This outcome aligns with the broader national trend where Democrats secured a majority in the chamber, yet local race calls in Georgia did not shift the state's internal balance.
The Associated Press called all 14 congressional races in the state between 7:21 p.m. Tuesday and 12:14 a.m. Wednesday. No new members of Congress emerged from Georgia in this election cycle. Incumbents held their positions across the district map, from the coastal first district to the rural 14th district.
Democratic Rep. Sanford Bishop retained the second district seat in southwest Georgia. He was declared the winner at 7:59 p.m. Tuesday. In the metro Atlanta area, Democratic incumbents also held their ground. Rep. Hank Johnson won the fourth district at 7:38 p.m. Rep. Nikema Williams took the fifth district at 7:24 p.m. Rep. Lucy McBath won the sixth district at 7:34 p.m.
Republican candidates protected their key territories in the state's northern and western regions. Rep. Brian Jack held the third district, which includes parts of Cobb County. His race was called at 8:59 p.m. Tuesday. Rep. Rich McCormick won the seventh district at 9:32 p.m. In the coastal first district, Republican Jim Kingston defeated Democrat Amanda Hollowell. The Associated Press called that race early Wednesday at 12:14 a.m.
Other district results followed quickly through the evening. Rep. Jasmine Clark secured the 13th District at 7:21 p.m. Tuesday. Rep. Andrew Clyde secured the 9th District at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday. Rep. Austin Scott won the 8th District at 8:28 p.m. Tuesday. Rep. Clay Fuller secured the 14th District at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday.
Later in the night, remaining races were called. Rep. Houston Gaines won the 10th District at 9:54 p.m. Tuesday. Rep. John Cowan took the 11th District at 10:17 p.m. Tuesday. Rep. Rick Allen secured the 12th District at 10:57 p.m. Tuesday. Officials have not yet released final statewide turnout totals or certified vote tallies for the 14 districts.
